Our CEO Charlotte Kneer attended the Women of the Year Event 2023

CEO Charlotte Kneer MBE DL recently attended the Women of the Year Event, joining over 400 remarkable women in celebrating and honouring their achievements this year. It was a truly brilliant event that provided a platform to recognize the incredible contributions of women.

The Women of the Year Lunch and Awards recently celebrated its 69th annual event. The event recognized over 400 women from various backgrounds in the UK who have accomplished extraordinary things this year. Each guest was nominated by a member of the Women of the Year Nominating Council as a 'Woman of the Year' in recognition of their personal achievements and inspirational actions. The Women of the Year Lunch and Awards is a platform that celebrates the accomplishments of women across all walks of life.

The awards ceremony highlighted five exceptional women who received Women of the Year Awards for their selfless dedication to their respective fields. The honorees included Baroness Hale, the first woman Justice of the Supreme Court in the UK; Merope Mills, a patient safety campaigner whose efforts led to the government's commitment to implement Martha's Rule across the NHS, aiming to reduce preventable deaths; Raksha Pattni, Chair of educational charity SHINE, dedicated to improving social mobility for disadvantaged children in the North of England; Professor Bola Owolabi, a GP and Director of the Health Inequalities and Improvement Team, working to reduce disparities in access and outcomes in the NHS; Samantha Payne MBE, co-founder of Open Bionics, a company revolutionizing the production of low-cost bionic hands; and Dr Alicja Dzieciol, co-founder of SilviBio, which tackles the climate crisis through products designed to enhance tree seed germination and seedling survival.

The event was graced by renowned presenters such as Emma Bunton, Clara Amfo, Felicity Jones, Rachel Riley, Susanna Reid, and Lorraine Kelly CBE. Notable guests in attendance included Denise Lewis DBE, Baroness Floella Benjamin, Anita Rani, Tamzin Outhwaite, and Arlene Phillips.

During the event, Charlotte had the opportunity to engage with many inspiring women, including the event's host, Mel Giedroyc.

Additionally, she used this invaluable occasion to have meaningful conversations with prominent political figures such as Penny Mordaunt, Leader of the House of Commons, Baroness Louise Casey DBE, CB, and Baroness Gabrielle Bertin. Charlotte's dedication to spreading our message was evident as she engaged with these influential individuals.

Charlotte felt incredibly honored to have been invited to such a lovely event and extends her gratitude to the committee responsible for organizing the Women of the Year awards.
